All-American Fourth of July

Carolina Belle - Blues and BBQ Cruise

Eric and I have spent the last 3 night in the quintessential American city of Charleston, South Carolina.  I was fortunate enough to learn several weeks back about a Charleston Harbor cruise that included live Blues music and pit-cooked BBQ.  I bought advance tickets online and tonight we spent our holiday aboard the Carolina Belle being serenaded by a wonderful, local Blues band named Shrimp City Slim.  We departed from the maritime docks at 8PM sharp and immediately found our way to the buffet line for some fantastic, all-american BBQ.  The cruise took us out to Morris Lighthouse, across to the tip of Sullivan’s Island and then the boat “parked” in the harbor just in front of the USS Yorktown.  Charleston was gearing up to shoot fireworks off the deck of the retired Yorktown carrier and we had a bird’s eye view.  9:30PM sharp the fireworks display began.  There were fireworks in the air all throughout the city and the surrounding islands and from the Carolina Belle we could see them all.  The low-country treated us right tonight and this will go in the books as one of our best 4th of July holidays to date!
